The Hard Way

They stood on the edge of the promised land 
just like 40 years ago
They finally learned their lesson 
to have faith when God said “Go”
For 40 years they felt the desert sand beneath their feet
But this time would be different, they would not again retreat

Israel learned the hard way
To ignore God has its cost
And obedience the first time
Means blessings won’t be lost

I stand before a crossroad every single day
One path would lead to blessing if I just choose His way
But in my pride and arrogance I follow my own track
And it often takes His disciplining hand to bring me back
